At origin we have a mission to create cutting edge coffee people. This doesn’t come easy, we have created the coffee school to help you by providing extensive barista training education and advice. Take pride in your work, good coffee is an art form and becoming a good barista is a hard earned talent.
What is a Barista?
Is a barista someone who makes coffee? Simply put, then yes, this is what a barista does. But for the passionate barista there is a relationship with coffee runs far deeper. An expert barista will understand the relationship between coffee, extraction times and flavour and can carefully construct beautiful richly flavoured espresso using a range of skills all taught here at Origin’s coffee school.
Why Train?
Firstly because it’s fun. Coffee can be characterised by remarkably different tastes: depending on the type of plant, growing region, climate, soil type and altitude among many, many others not to mention the input of the barista. Learning the different flavours herein becomes the start of an incredible journey.
And of course serving excellent coffee will see your customers coming back again and again.
Origin Coffee Barista Training
Training begins with and introduction to the countries of origin, little thought about by today’s demanding coffee culture. Learning about the processes of cultivation, picking and extracting the coffee bean, we will give you the knowledge to underpin your skills as a barista.
Our barista training is offered at our fully equipped training school near Falmouth, Cornwall. Training is to the highest world standard and is undertaken by our full time, highly experienced barista trainer. If this all seems a little daunting then be at ease because training will be adjusted to suit you no matter what your level of experience.
City and Guilds level 2
Origin Coffee Ltd. is extremely proud to announce that we have linked with Cornwall College and together we will be the first in the South West to offer the nationally recognised qualification for the Barista - the VNQ Level 2 in Barista Skills.
Developed in partnership with the industry, the City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in Barista Skills is the only nationally recognised qualification of its type.
