Where's Dave?
07-03-2012
Six heats in total, held all across the country, are responsible for finding the best 20 baristas in the UK. Those final 20 will brew-it-out in the tense and highly anticipated final at London Coffee Festival, Brick Lane in April.
But who will they be? The South West heats were held what seems like an age ago, where and our barista trainer Dave Jones managed to secure an impressive third place in the region. After a further two heats the pressure is mounting as we eagerly anticipate the final 20 announcement.
As it stands Dave is sitting at a comfy number 6 in the top 20, but with two heats to go; one in Glasgow and another in Northern Ireland, anything could happen. Take a look at the table below for the current positions (from scaeuk.com )

If you follow our Facebook and Twitter feeds you'll notice a familiar name sitting at number 7 on the leaderboard. Origin customer Dan Fellows competed in the UKBC for the first time this year. Not only is he sitting comfortably in seventh as I type, but has also won the UK Coffee Events (UKCE) 2012 Coffee in Good Spirits champion at Hotelympia. He's top of the leaderboard for the Best Newcomer to the UKBC.
Finca Potosi, Colombia
A splendidly full bodied coffee with ripe, dark fruit flavour and some dried tropical fruit notes. It has a sticky and jammy mouth feel.
Los Nogales 2013 Crop
This coffee is all about balance. It has a slightly winey acidity with lovely red fruit sweetness.
