Job purpose:

As a senior technician for Origin, you will inspire a team of trainee technicians and technicians from our head office in Southwark, London. With a love of coffee and instinctive curiosity to fix anything that isn’t quite working, you will demonstrate an impeccable level of service to our customers. You will have extensive experience in a technical environment, relish a busy workload prioritising and triaging so our technical operation runs smoothly. You will have extensive experience of working with La Marzocco, Bunn, VA Mythos, Mahlkoenig machines and set customer expectations accordingly. You will extend your training with our customers carrying our front-end servicing, triaging of equipment and when necessary, returning to the Southwark workshop for further maintenance, carried out by yourself or a technician.


Key areas of responsibility:

  • to motivate the company wide technical team on a day-to-day basis
  • to provide appropriate support for all trainee technicians and technicians to provide first-class servicing, maintenance, installing, and uplifting of all espresso and filter equipment on-site
  • to support the Service Coordinator with all service-related queries so the technical team meets the operational demands of after sales technical support including delegation of responsibilities to ensure smooth operational efficiency
  • responsible for regular auditing of allocated accounts within a prescribed radius
  • adhere to and always follow the standard operating procedure for Origin technicians;
  • maintaining stock control of parts and tools required for all call outs
  • ensuring the quality and installation of the equipment meets both the La Marzocco and Origin standards
  • accurate data input to ServiceM8
  • accurate information for the delivery of equipment
  • ensuring serviced equipment is cleaned and of good working before signing-off
  • communicating and educating Origin standard expectations with on-site baristas
  • troubleshooting whilst on site including identifying next steps and communicating with the customer time scales and intermediate solutions
  • respecting an orderly and well-maintained workshop


The role requires:

  • immaculate time keeping and time management
  • solid technical skills, driven by an intrinsic desire to take apart and put back together again
  • an ability to understand and handle customer complaints and triage appropriately
  • ensure accurate account management and maintenance including accurate recordings and routine descriptions of work performed
  • confidence, focus and meticulous attention to detail
  • an ability to work well under managed pressure
  • the desire to create a calm environment when assessing and fixing a customer appliance
  • an enthusiasm for your own career progression, training, and development
  • a passion for specialty coffee and a first-class service
  • evening callout’s, early starts and occasional weekend cover
  • a full UK driving license
  • a strong command of the English language

  • careful and diligent – even meticulous – with a good dose of common sense

  • a strong communicator especially with customers who will expect your reassurance you can problem-solve quickly
  • passionate about the world of speciality coffee or about to, potentially a trained barista looking for their next move from behind the bar
