Lomas Al Rio is an award-winning mill located in the stunning West Valley of Costa Rica. Owner, Grace Mena, is an acclaimed figure who is cited as a pioneer of both the country’s micro mill revolution and of the ‘honey process’.

This ‘Natural’ processed coffee is the final offering of a Lomas Al Rio trio sourced during our Costa Rica trip. The first two being the Black Honey and Red Honey.

To produce this coffee the ripest cherries are spread out in the sun to dry with their full fruit intact. This allows the coffee bean to take on the flavours of the pulp and sweetness of the mucilage (the sugary substance that covers the bean). It creates deliciously complex flavour profiles with fruity tones. This is a heavy bodied cup displaying notes of blueberry muffin and clotted cream.
