Ethiopia is a country renowned for exceptional coffee, which is why our Head of Coffee, Freda, jumped at the chance to travel there for the first time earlier this year.
This coffee is unique to us. It is one of our first Ethiopian coffees purchased from source as a result of the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) changing their regulations in 2018. It is also our first single farmer lot from the country and showcases the hard work of Adisu Terefe. Through this recent change, we are now able to work with coffee washing stations and farmers like Adisu directly, offering a much greater traceability in the coffee we source.
Adisu began working in coffee 13 years ago and since then, he has strived to constantly expand his farm and improve the quality of each harvest. Leading to this first attempt at producing his own coffee. Adisu’s ambition shines through in the cup. It is outstanding, with highly pronounced tropical fruit flavours and a long, refreshing floral finish.
Espresso: 1:2 coffee to water, extracted in 28-32 secs
Filter: 60-65g coffee per litre of water, brewed for 3-4 mins
Roast days are Tuesdays and Fridays. All orders placed by midnight the day before will be sent out first-class on the roast day.
We create a new and unique profile for each coffee we roast. Although the profiles are different, our approach is always the same, to highlight and accentuate the flavours created at the farm and mill. This means we don’t label our coffees as espresso, filter, dark or light roast. All of our coffees are omni-roast, meant to be delicious however you brew. We believe the heart of speciality is keeping the identity and character of every coffee intact and alive, no matter the brew method.
