The Haru Cooperative has been part of the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union since 2002. The YCFCU supports the continuous development of sustainable coffee and was founded not only to increase the quality of the coffee produced, but to maximise the financial returns to the farmers who supply the cooperative. Since its establishment, the union has grown to a membership of 28 cooperatives with over 38,000 farmers supporting over 300,000 family members.
This coffee from Haru has been doubled washed. This processing method helps remove any leftover pulp on the seeds and often lends itself to improved flavour clarity. After the first wet stage, the coffee is submerged again for a secondary underwater soak. We always look to showcase alternative production methods and as soon as we tasted Haru, we were struck by its exceptionally clean and bright flavour profile.
Espresso: 1:2 dose to yield, extracted in 28-36 secs
Filter: 0.07:1 coffee to water, brewed in 3-4 mins
Roast days are Tuesdays and Fridays. All orders placed by midnight the day before will be sent out first-class on the roast day.
We create a new and unique profile for each coffee we roast. Although the profiles are different, our approach is always the same, to highlight and accentuate the flavours created at the farm and mill. This means we don’t label our coffees as espresso, filter, dark or light roast. All of our coffees are omni-roast, meant to be delicious however you brew. We believe the heart of speciality is keeping the identity and character of every coffee intact and alive, no matter the brew method.
