This coffee from the Baragwi Farmers Co-operative’s wet mill Muchagara was the first coffee selected on our inaugural trip to Kenya in March this year. We arrived in Nairobi and began cupping through hundreds of coffees, heading back and forth between the capital and the coffee growing districts in the shade of Mount Kenya.
It has been years since the collapse of the coffee unions in Kenya. Coffee is now run by small co-operatives and privates, each with one or a few wet mills. The Baragwi Farmers Co-op is a typical co-op producing not so typical coffee. Incredible note clarity and a vibrant sweetness make this coffee different.
