Santa Lucia is one in a small group of farms owned by the acclaimed Nicaraguan coffee producers, the Mierisch family, who now also farm in Honduras too. Santa Lucia is slightly different from the other Mierisch farms as it is co-owned by Mark Dundon, who has hugely attributed to the popular speciality coffee scene in Melbourne, Australia. A partnership between old friends, the farm is home to various experimental production processes and one of the best tasting lots of Red Catuai that we have ever experienced.
The Red Catuai varietal is a hybrid between Mundo Novo and Caturra. It’s a bit of a work horse in the coffee industry as it can be found all over Central America and Brazil. This delicious red catuai lot has a highly defined and complex vanilla cream and cherry sweetness, with an incredible flavour clarity in the cup.
