Origin Coffee - The Coffees.
At Origin we are very selective about who picks our coffee, we demand not only the finest Arabica coffee beans we also expect the environment to be treated with consideration and the workers with respect.
We source coffee from Brazil, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatamala, Colombia, Ethiopia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. With our farmers we like to pay a premium for the coffee and in return they guarantee an on going supply and consistent quality, not a great breaking business agreement, but a very effective one.
Below are three profiles from farms that we trade with. Once the coffee has been sourced it is then blended with other single estate coffees to produce our blends.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA HOAC CO OP certified Organic and Fairtrade
Papua New Guinea is located in the Pacific region just south of the equator, north of Australia and is known for its amazing wildlife and cultural diversity with over 800 language groups. The coffee produced in this region is equally as amazing.

The area of production lies in the mountainous Eastern Highlands close to the town of Okapa. Altitude is 5200 feet. The soil is very rich, dark red/brown in colour with volcanic origins. The roads track the mountain ridges and during the rainy season they become totally impassable. The coffee is trucked out using 4 wheel drive, tractor & trailer when conditions permit. Payment is made in cash, at time of purchase.
The coffee is hand picked when it is ripe (bright red) washed and dried in the sun, being constantly stirred to ensure even drying. The parchment is covered at night to protect it from the early morning dew. Due to the location of the coffee, the trees have never had chemical fertilizers or pesticides on them in their live. There are about 2600 producers supporting about 12,000 people.
PPKGO SUMATRA Certified Organic Fairtrade
The Gayo Organic Coffee Farmers Association (PPKGO) is an organic Fair Trade coffee cooperative located in the Gayo Highlands of the Aceh province of Sumatra, Indonesia. Coop members are small-scale coffee farmers dedicated to producing 100% shade-grown, organic coffee. In a region known for political conflict, the co-op has continued to produce, process, and export high quality Sumatran coffee.
Cooperative farmers live in an environmentally sensitive region—the buffer zone to Gunung Leuser National Park, which contains critical watershed areas and sanctuaries for endangered species such as the Sumatran tiger. Fair Trade price incentives and technical support provided by the cooperative have encouraged sustainable agriculture and resource conservation.
Significant revenues earned from selling to the Fair Trade and organic markets allow PPKGO to contribute to a wide variety of programs.
