We were delighted to be part of the 4th Cup North event at the Manchester Coffee Festival at Victoria Warehouse last weekend. With over 50 exhibitors from around the UK and an expected 10,000 people estimated to have passed through the doors, the atmosphere was buzzing throughout with competitions, cuppings, and talks popping up around every corner.
Victoria Warehouse, Manchester
This year we invited some of our great friends from the Northern area to showcase what they do best. We had Perky Peacock (York), Foundation (Manchester), Stories (Leeds) and Epicure (Huddersfield) all guesting on our stand displaying their finest brewing skills on a Linea Mini provided by event sponsor La Marzocco. It was great to catch up with each customer and listen to their approach towards specialty coffee and their thoughts on Origin.
Guest Cafe Programme
As well as our guest cafe, we proudly held cuppings of two delicious special edition Geisha coffees sourced from Panama. Our current Hacienda Esmeralda and an exclusive preview of the Finca Nuguo Lot 4 (to be released 27th November) were cupped by the team at intervals during the weekend. Of the hundreds of cuppings that we do each year, these two coffees have something special about them and we were super excited to share them with the Cup North crowd.
Esmeralda & Finca Nuguo Special Edition Geishas
The UK Cup Tasters Championship awards the professional coffee cupper who demonstrates speed, skill, and accuracy in distinguishing the taste differences in specialty coffees and brought some excitement and drama to the weekend. Origin were represented superbly with roasters Simon and Luke, training managers Dan and Jesse, and head of coffee Joshua all testing their tastes against the best in the UK. Special congratulations to Simon and Jesse who finished 5th & 6th respectively on their first ever Cup Tasters event - a fantastic achievement.
Dan O'Regan, Cup North 2017
A big thankyou from all the Origin team to the event sponsors La Marzocco, BWT for providing the water, all our guest café invitees, and everyone who visited the stand over the weekend – looking forward to MCF 2018!
