Fellow Aiden Electric Coffee Maker

After years of making cafetière coffee, we really wanted an upgrade to a machine, but we were loathe to pay the price for an espresso machine, which are often huge, expensive, and not all that convenient. After doing a lot of research we are really chuffed with this decision as it has felt like a far better investment for our home than the bean-to-cup machine we had been coveting. It has the practical benefits of my parents’ ancient percolator (able to make loads of coffee in one go, stays hot) but in a machine that actually makes amazing coffee rather than average coffee. The fact the jug is well insulated and the plate it sits in isn’t a hot plate (so doesn’t get covered in scalded coffee) is so clever. We are blown away by the quality of the brew we get from the same ground coffee when compared to brewing it in a cafetière or moka pot; also love the consistent temperature of the coffee throughout the day. The brew guides are so good for scaling up and down how much coffee you want to make on a given day. Finally, and possibly most importantly, the fact it is programmable is a GAME CHANGER. Worth every single penny.

All the reviews of Fellow's new automatic brewer are true; this machine can make some pretty amazing cups that are as good as a very good V60. And it's infuriating!

The Aiden is in an interesting position which isn't compatible to similar brewers. It appeals to the coffee purist in teams of getting the grind size right, using the best water available, setting the amount of pulses, the temperature of your water...and yet in its very skin and what it is designed to do, it is not purist. But thanks to its ability to amend and add profiles, it can still appeal to a particular kind of coffee purist who needs to have their hands free or who can't spend an awful lot of time creating coffee magic each day. The home barista parent is the best example that comes to mind. As a parent myself, Aiden is going to help me out a lot because I can set it and forget it and I'm almost always guaranteed a brew that is as good and quite often better than the one I would produce while juggling a toddler and a baby. For anyone equally that finds they are having to increasingly return to the office or are in demand more than you once were, this is the ideal tool. It'll pull out all those notes you want while doing it quietly in the background of your life.
