Components
The Brazil component of Stronghold is a regional blend with a cup score of 83. Brazil is one of the leading coffee producing countries in the industry, with most producers owning big lands with high yield coffee, making it harder for smaller coffee growers to access the speciality market. This is what our exporting partners identify, providing a platform for producers to sell their coffee in the speciality market and training pre and post-harvest to elevate the quality. The result is a coffee with a profile that is very accessible; it’s chocolatey, sweet and nutty.
The Peru component, Las Chirimoyas, is from a small farm owned by Simon Brown and Merlith Cruz. At the time of purchasing the farm it was already planted with some common local varieties and the idea was to cut those trees down and plant new, exotic varieties. However, since the quality of the coffee was surprisingly good and the farm’s production was a good way to compliment the exotic varieties, Simon and Merlith decided to maintain the existing varieties and renovate it over time.
