Resolute is a carefully curated blend, made up of Jóvenes Matambo and San Ignacio:
Jóvenes Matambo
One of the greatest challenges facing the coffee industry is the ageing population of farmers. Decades of exploitative trading and supply chain structures have made coffee farming economically unsustainable for many, prompting younger generations to seek livelihoods elsewhere. Jóvenes Matambo is a group of producers aged 28–35 who, through training in quality improvement, agronomy, and business administration, have revitalised their parents’ farms. They now produce high-quality coffee and command prices that support long-term growth and viability. As part of our sourcing strategy, we identify and prioritise partnerships with resilient producer partners, and young farmers like those in Jóvenes Matambo are central to future-proofing the industry.
San Ignacio
Sourced from the provinces of Jaén and San Ignacio in Cajamarca, Peru, this coffee is grown by smallholders who home-process each lot; picking, fermenting, and drying cherries before delivery to the Chacra Coffee warehouse in Jaén. With average farm sizes around 2 hectares, most producers avoid herbicides, opting for manual weeding. Smallholders often face barriers to market access and are underrepresented in the speciality coffee industry, which is why we prioritise working with them wherever possible.
