    A disappointing day

I attended the Latte Art course this weekend(Saturday the 18th) and after initially being very excited about taking part, I left feeling disheartened, sad and overall let down by the entire experience.

To start the instructor seemingly did not know that the class would have a 4th participant and seemed shocked when they walked in the door. I shook it off as a last minute booking but looking back it matches the overall disorganised feel of the class.

Continuing I find it odd that the first 30 minutes or so was spent discussing the history of the company and the company in general. While a little intro would be nice I feel spending this long on this is unnecessary, when you are only there for 2 and a half hours having 30 minutes of that devoted to company talk doesn't sit right.

A short discussion on espresso shots and what makes a good espresso followed this, again I feel this is unnecessary for a course on latte art, but I'm more understanding of having this here as not everyone will be on the same level when it comes to pulling espresso shots.

We then moved on to the practical part of the day, and the issues continued here. There are two coffee machines in the training room, enough for 4 people to be making the coffee and preparing the milk. Of this one of the steam wands was not working and initially an entire machine was not dialed in correctly. I ended up on the machine that was not dialed in and the first shot of espresso out of this machine almost filled two entire…

    Great course for new enthusiasts

The course was bought as a Christmas gift and the experience was fun, relaxing and really informative. The information was pitched at the right level - the staff were lovely and who does not love COFFEE! Would highly recommend anyone who has a new found love of coffee or want to know more about the coffee they drink and trying some new like latte art. A nice wee hidden gem of a coffee shop as well.

    Such a great course

My partner and I came to do the course in Feb 2026 and are so happy with how it went.

We'd recently bought a Sage Bambino and separate grinder and the woman who lead the course gave us such great advice and made us realise lots of areas we, as well intentioned beginners, were going wrong. She was so knowledgeable and so clearly an expert, it was a joy to learn from her.

The length of the course was great and it allowed you to get a lot of practice of in. You get to drink lots of delicious high quality coffee throughout, and come away with two bags too, which makes the course great value in my opinion. We're now big fans of Origin beans and will be buying beans here from now on.
